mannerisms, gestures, drinking in every tiny little detail that our eyes can register.

Taking time to stand still, to really get to know and savour each other outside (as well as inside) the bedroom is a treat - a little luxury - or as the French are wont to say un petit plaisir.  Indeed, the true luxury of the modern age is making time to step outside of one’s reality for oneself, more so if that time is spent with a woman who embraces her body, knows how to give pleasure, is able to connect with a man and understand him on a deeper, truly personal levels.  Now, this is something (and someone) worth prioritising, and investing in.

efusing to settle for the hurried and perfunctory, my focus is solely on liaisons that begin convivially oooooover drinks or a meal.  Why?  Because they afford the perfect environment for us to connect ooooocandidly, and for our unique alchemy to  unfold organically.  Superficially, our focus is on the food oooooand each other’s words, but what we are actually doing is take note of the other’s physicality: details oooooof skin texture, muscle tone, directness of gaze, movements of the lips over teeth, lustre of hair,

  • FOOD & RESTAURANTS

I could write an essay about food. In fact, I really need to sit down and finally write a blog post about this very topic.

Food is one of life’s greatest pleasures. Not only do I love to eat, I love to bake, cook, and also to read about food too. I enjoy most cuisines, particularly those full of flavour, heat and spice; Chinese, Indian, Thai and Vietnamese, and also seasonal English and classic French cooking, and Italian fare too (although I have a tendency to save pasta for when I am in Italy). I opt for restaurants that are all about well-sourced food cooked simply. Even though I have a well-rounded palate, I will always pick a rare steak, a piece of grilled fish or a plate of smoked salmon over something more complicated. I have a terrible sweet tooth and will happily skip a starter in order to eat pudding. Although that said, when I go out to eat, I like to enjoy myself and can polish off three courses with no trouble at all. On my birthday, it is usual for me to eat three courses, the third comprising two puddings and a whole lot of cake too!

While I do enjoy fine dining, it is indeed something to savour and a real delight, I believe that Michelin stars, tasting menus and wine pairings do not necessarily lend themselves particularly well to any meal à deux; the man I am with and our conversation should take centre stage, not the food. Also, to be frank, passions of the flesh are the last thing on my mind as I often feel sluggish after a fine dining extravaganza, wanting nothing more than to nap. Alone. Ha!

    Restaurants

I have little interest in the usual escort destination restaurants such as Navikov, Nobu, Sexy Fish, Sucre et al. While I love a neighbourhood gem, and am thankful I live locally to some of the best - Bouchon Racine, Brat, Brutto, Café Cecilia, The Coach, Manteca, Rochelle Canteen, Sessions Arts Club, Toklas, Trullo and Western Laundry, unfortunately, they are not well-placed with regards to the more resplendent hotels (although to be fair, there are some marvellous hotels in these locales). Even so, and as a matter of ease, I tend to gravitate towards timeless classics and ol' faithfuls, all of which are well-located within the West End, and include* (but not limited to):

    Hawksmoor

    Holborn Dining Room

    Imperial Treasures

    J. Sheekey

    River Cafe

    Noble Rot

    Quality Chop House

    Quo Vadis

    Scott’s

    The River Cafe

And for the true romantics, Clos Maggiore

But please, remember, these are just suggestions, I absolutely welcome your input and would love to sample your favourites or even somewhere new to use both, particularly if it has been recommended in print by Jay Rayner and/or Marina O’Loughlin.

*Please note that Brasserie Zedel, The Wolseley et al have deliberately been omitted - regrettably, since the takeover of Corbin & King's glorious empire, as a matter of principle, their restaurants are now haram. However, I love them, so if you insist, I will not demur!

  • BARS & BEVERAGES

Drinking neither coffee nor tea, my beverage of choice is delicious, nutritious hot water, (no lemon, that's far too fancy) although on occasion, I do permit the addition of some fresh mint. I favour a glass of Champagne or Prosecco with food as wine does not mix well with me, although on occasion, I do enjoy glass of Sancerre with a piece of grilled fish.

I never can decline a G&T and have a penchant for a cocktail or two, particularly a Gibson, a Gimlet, a Tom Collins and if it is a celebration, a Twinkle.

There is something intimate and unique about the atmosphere in a hotel bar. They are my location of choice for a cocktail and fancy nibbles. Also, they are the perfect destination for a secret assignation - I will always embrace an invitation to meet at one of the following:

    American Bar - The Savoy,

    American Bar - The Stafford,

    Artisan Bar,

    Connaught Bar,

    Duke’s,

    Lyaness,

    Scafes Bar

  • HOTELS & DESTINATIONS

Like me, you want nothing more than to wholly luxuriate in our encounter, indulging (and sating) all senses. You understand that a sumptuous hotel will only add to the decadent thrill of our encounter, serving as our own little cocoon into which we can escape into with wild abandon.

The following are some of my favourite London hotels -

Biltmore, Blakes, The Corinthia, Firmdale Hotels, The Langham, Mondrian at Sea Containers, Rosewood, South Place, The Stafford

I wonder if some of yours feature and if not, I look forward to discovering new places, particularly if they have a wonderful bath tub - I am a huge fan of shared baths (and showers for that matter)

    WANDERLUST

As a Londoner born and bred, I am a city woman through and through. Surprisingly, my favourite city is Los Angeles. I try to disappear to there for at least a few weeks (if not longer) every year. As I suffer terribly with jet lag, I prefer short-haul European cities, particularly for jaunts of a few days; Paris, Florence and Rome are the usual choices but am always open to new destinations.

One of my few guilty pleasures is visiting locations I have seen on celluloid - on my first trip to L.A. I made a friend drive me all over town so I could see various locations and sights I had seen on the cinema screen, and also out to La Verne so I could see the church featured in the final scenes of The Graduate. I made different friend drive me up to San Francisco where another friend took us on a 'Vertigo' tour)

    Trips I Dream About

Learn the tango in Argentina (and eat copious amounts of grilled meat with chimichurri)

Walk one of the Camino de Santiago routes

Giraffe Manor and Meru National Park (where Joy Adamson raised Elsa the lion cub)

    Japan

The Orient Express, (sans murder, obviously!)

Trans Siberian railway (Vladivostok to Moscow)
